Have you had a kindness shown?
Pass it on;
'Twas not given for thee alone,
Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another's tears,
'Til in Heaven the deed appears.
Pass it on.

A couple of weeks ago, a project by Amy over at Diary of a Quilter really caught my eye {sidebar: I really should quit reading her blog. Every time I go there, it costs me $150. See also, Sparkle All the Way Christmas Quilt}. She made a pillow using the Indie fabric line by Pat Bravo. I really loved how the fabrics worked together. I try to be sensible about spending money and for the most part don't buy things just to have them. I have to have a project in mind when I buy fabric {unless is it absolutely spectacular} because if I'm actually going to use it, then it is OK to buy it, right? {Never mind if it sits in a storage bin for two years until I get to it.} I'm not really a modern quilter. I'm more of a calico girl, but something about this fabric line just really called my name and my brain started working on ways to justify a purchase.
In another part of my brain, I was working on ideas for my blog-aversary/birthday giveaway. And suddenly it clicked. I had the perfect project for this fabric and I could use that for one of my giveaways {you'll see it tomorrow}, and since I'd be ordering ½ yard cuts anyway, I'd have enough to play with and enough to give some away.
I'm happy to announce today's giveaway; a fat quarter bundle which includes all twenty of the Indie Prints.
Please note: the fabrics have all been washed, pressed, starched and squared up because I wash everything before I use it and I'm using my share of this fabric for a little something fabulous. This means that the fabrics have shrunk a little and depending on how generous {or not} the various shops I ordered them from were and whether they were pulled off grain and required lots of squaring up, the fat quarters range in size from 16½" to 19". Then there's the matter of the Afro Fusion in Dusk print, which I didn't quite order enough of and has ended up being an odd size, but is roughly the same volume as a fat quarter.
I'm off to play with my new Indie fabrics. Here's how you can win your own fat quarter bundle.

I must start buying fabric lines as I am so impulsive and often just buy what I like!!-then I have to try and put them together
ReplyDeleteI love buying fabrics from the same fabric line, and just go with the prints and colors I like best.
ReplyDeleteourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
Yummy fabrics!! I tend to just get the prints I like or want from a line. I can't afford a whole line anyways - unless it was a charm pack (which I love buying).
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric that I like
ReplyDeleteIam bad cause I should buy it only when I need it
I used to be a 'whole line' kind of girl but now I find myself buying a few from here and a few from there. Of course in the last year, I have made most everything from my stash so....
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I got a couple of these from winning one of the blog hop gifts, so I could really use some more. ;)
I usually just pick and choose my fabrics but if budget prevailed I would so be buying entire lines.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to mix it up, but I have bought several prints of a particular line now and then.
ReplyDeleteYour Indie giveaway is beyond generous! I like each one, and it looks like they'd be good "mixers" too.
I usually pick one here and one there, but more and more feel that I need to buy a whole line of some of the many great ones there is!
ReplyDeleteI never have the money to buy a whole fabric line unless it is a charm pack. Lovely give away.
ReplyDeleteIt is my dream to one day buy a fat quarter bundle of a fabric line! I've never done it, mainly because I could never afford that big of a chunk at once! I usually pick up a few of the prints that really speak to me. I'm so jealous of the quilters out there that can afford a fat quarter bundle of everything they love! Oy! To dream! :o)
ReplyDeleteI once bought a fat quarter bundle of one of Robyn Pandolph's ranges. I haven't bought a whole range since that time but I'm kicking myself I never bought Bonnie and Camille's Ruby range!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics! I always pick and choose~ more often than not, some lines have in 'filler' type fabrics that just do nothing for me. LOL Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteIf I could afford it, I would buy complete lines, but I have to be a bit selective right now. I try to always buy at least two coordinating fabrics from a line so I can play the two against each other in a project down the road. Thanks for the great giveaway chance!
ReplyDeleteI depends on the line, I love precuts I get it all in one bunch, strips, fat quarters or, squares all coordinated. Sometimes I only like a few fabrics in a line, so I buy only them. ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeletelove that fabric . thanks
ReplyDeleteI don't usually buy entire fabric lines, although I have a good portion of a few lines. I have Indie at the top of my list and want it all -- Beautiful! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI usually pick and chose among different lines of fabric.

I often just buy what I like, mostly in sales. And I am always amazed that suddenly it is just the rigth fabric for a certain project. But I also do love lines and for those I normally save up some money to be able to buy as my budget is quite limited.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy along the same line because I don't trust my "put-it-together-myself" skills yet.

I usually pick and choose my favourites because I can't afford to buy the whole line!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! As a very scrappy quilter I rarely use matching anything. A whole bundle would be a treat---hmmm....what to make? Maybe your project will inspire me.
ReplyDeleteI love your generous giveaway! If $$$ were no object...I'd buy a whole line of fabric...but I need to pick and choose!!
ReplyDeleteI tend to pick and choose a fat quarter here and there. I usually don't have enough money to buy a whole collection.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway! I pick and choose and often buy 1/2 yd cuts to stash. The FQ bundles are beautiful but, generally, the price is so "TOO MUCH" for this quilter's budget! Plus, there are usually only 2-4 prints from each line that really speak to me.
ReplyDeleteI use to pick and match base on the colors and design regardsless of the fabric line. Thanks for the generous giveaway:) shaza.zain(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeletewhat a nice grouping. nice give away.
ReplyDeleteMy wife has bought the full ticklish line and twirl and Amelia all from the me and my sisters collection. I did not buy the full line but almost the full line of architectural and reunion. But mostly I just buy random fabrics that interest me I am all over the place but I do love when I can make a quilt out of a full line of fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I buy fat quarter packs of whole fabric lines but only from some my favourite designers, but sometimes I need to buy one or two extras to give the quilt the extra kick it needs. It is good that I make mostly scrap quilts.
ReplyDeleteI like to pick and choose my fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI like to pick one here and one there :D
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a pick and choose quilter. Thanks for all the giveaways! Hope you had a great birthday!
ReplyDeleteI usually pick and choose tha fabrics I love. I hope your Birthday was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteIt would all depend on the fabric line. I have one or two that I do have the entire line of, but usually I just buy what I like, and make them all work together. I have a huge stash full of blenders, because then they always go together.
ReplyDeleteI choose fabric from an entire line. I am not comfortable mixing and matching so much.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, interesting question and beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy fabriclines, allthough I think it is too easy... Sometimes I do and sometimes not, it is different.
I tend to buy entire fabric lines, but I really want to start picking and choosing. I am starting to get more comfortable with mixing and matching fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI would like to buy a whole line but most of my quilt shops don't carry the whole line so I usually have to mix and match.
ReplyDeleteI rarely buy a full fabric line.. I mainly buy one or two fabrics from a line and then flesh it out with other things from my stash.. Thanks for the giveaway..
ReplyDeleteI rarely buy a whole line of fabrics though I am really fond of the Stonehenge fabrics ( tone on tones). I usually buy fabric on sale so it is not the newest lines out there. I sometimes wish I had bought a few lines like the fossil fern fabrics- They were so gorgeous and really versatile.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to pull from the stash and put together your own combo too.
Lovely lovely fabrics- thanks for the chance to win such a pretty line.
Warmest regards and a very Happy Birthday,
Anna
